This Will Destroy You call it day

Texan four-piece This Will Destroy You announced on their tumblr that they "cannot agree on the future of [this] band" and have decided "to take [our] side projects full time" but "will continue to release [our] b-sides in the future". The post surfaced three hours ago on TWDY's tumblr and it comes on the eve of their second studio LP Tunnel Blanket which is set for release on May 10.

The group still have shows scheduled, right now it is not known if they will fulfil these live commitments, they are nice chaps so we can at least hope that ticket holders needn't worry. But it's highly probable that they aren't going to make any more dates ahead of the four shows that are upcoming including three shows in Texas and a festival in Belgium.

This Will Destroy You's music helped put themselves into the forefront of post-rock/instrumental music and they've been a steady favourite for fans of that yield of music. A look at past releases show how they created their own distincitive sound. From their debut EP Young Mountain to their latest release Communal Blood and looking forward to Tunnel Blanket, TWDY have created sonic soundscapes like Rituals off of Moving on the Edges of Things and memorably lush post-rock moments like Happiness: We're All In It Together from Young Mountain.

Hmm, glancing at the calendar and remembering what day it actually is today (which in part is also thanks to Rebecca Black). I'm going to stop the sentimentality and leave it at this: lets hope it's a cruel April Fools joke.

I, like many, will happily stand corrected.

New Explosions In The Sky track: Trembling Hands/Take Care, Take Care, Take Care now available for pre-order

Explosions In The Sky have released a new track from their upcoming studio album Take Care, Take Care, Take Care. The three and a half minute track titled: Trembling Hands is reminiscent of the work EITS showcased on their second album Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Die, Those Who Tell the Truth Shall Live Forever.

It's available for the small price of your email address at the bottom left-hand corner of the band's website.

Take Care, Take Care, Take Care is now available for pre-order now, on EITS' website. When you're over there you can also get an idea of the vinyl packaging, showing interesting features.

Recording for EITS' sixth full length record took place on a pecan ranch in West Texas and was lead by frequent collaborator John Congleton. ETIS have stated: "The music on it feels different than anything else we've done before and we're very excited for you to hear it." So don't expect the music to be as repetitive as the title.

Monoganon debut LP: "Songs To Swim To"

Apart from being famous for venomous football (soccer..) rivalries and deep fried mars bars, respectively, Glasgow is also known for it's lovely music scene that has, for decades generated much enjoyment for fans of this thing called music. One of the latest bits of music to come from Glasgae, is Songs To Swim To by Monoganon.

Monoganonsss
Monoganon - a four piece with John B McKenna and Andrew Cowan taking care of guitar and vocals, Susan Bear on the bass and Colin Kearney on the drums. Songs To Swim To offers seven tracks, re-workings of earlier material by John during his solo outings, the only one that perhaps remained acoustic in the process of making STST was my favourite track: Needle Green. It's without the reverby vocals that accompanied it on John's debut EP 9 Old Recordings, and now features a crackly fireplace, river stream and other nuances offering an even nicer layer cake instead of a solitary acoustic ditty.

Having released a very acronym-inclined EP in 2009, Elephant Pregnancy (which you can download for free via Winning Sperm Party) the group have set a date for their coming out party: March 7, which, if you're local is at Mono, 12 King's Court, Glasgow. Locals can also purchase it from Mono again, or Love Music, 34 Dundas Street, Glasgow. Luckily for us from afar, it's here to listen to on Soundcloud, so dive in. On it's launch you'll be able to download it for free right here on Winning Sperm Party, so make sure to head there on the 7th.

Explosions In The Sky reveal release date(s) for new album

The Texan post-rock outfit Explosions In The Sky have just released a slew of information about their long awaited sixth studio album, including the release date, track list, and album title.

Eitspic

The album's called Take Care, Take Care, Take Care, and has a track list of six songs:

1. Last Known Surroundings

2. Human Qualities

3. Trembling Hands

4. Be Comfortable, Creature

5. Postcard from 1952

6. Let Me Back In

Take Care, Take Care, Take Care is set for release on April 18th in the UK, April 25th in Europe and April 26th in US and Canada.

Recording took place on a pecan ranch in West Texas and was lead by frequent collaborator John Congleton. ETIS state: "The music on it feels different than anything else we've done before and we're very excited for you to hear it." So don't expect the music to be as repetitive as the title.

While no artwork has been released for Take Care, Take Care, Take Care, Esteban Rey will once again offer his skills in the art department.

The band have released this short video that showcases the information above, but makes point to say 'new sounds by... Explosions In The Sky', accompanying the video is a strange, ambient sound which could easily be an excerpt from one of the new tracks. If so, ETIS definetly have made something much different to anything else they've done before.

At the moment there are no means of pre-ordering the new album. But keep an ear to the ground.
