Monoganon debut LP: "Songs To Swim To"

Apart from being famous for venomous football (soccer..) rivalries and deep fried mars bars, respectively, Glasgow is also known for it's lovely music scene that has, for decades generated much enjoyment for fans of this thing called music. One of the latest bits of music to come from Glasgae, is Songs To Swim To by Monoganon.

Monoganonsss
Monoganon - a four piece with John B McKenna and Andrew Cowan taking care of guitar and vocals, Susan Bear on the bass and Colin Kearney on the drums. Songs To Swim To offers seven tracks, re-workings of earlier material by John during his solo outings, the only one that perhaps remained acoustic in the process of making STST was my favourite track: Needle Green. It's without the reverby vocals that accompanied it on John's debut EP 9 Old Recordings, and now features a crackly fireplace, river stream and other nuances offering an even nicer layer cake instead of a solitary acoustic ditty.

Having released a very acronym-inclined EP in 2009, Elephant Pregnancy (which you can download for free via Winning Sperm Party) the group have set a date for their coming out party: March 7, which, if you're local is at Mono, 12 King's Court, Glasgow. Locals can also purchase it from Mono again, or Love Music, 34 Dundas Street, Glasgow. Luckily for us from afar, it's here to listen to on Soundcloud, so dive in. On it's launch you'll be able to download it for free right here on Winning Sperm Party, so make sure to head there on the 7th.
